SONGKRAN FESTIVAL is coming up soon and Chiang Mai city is preparing for much events and traditions. (12-14 April)
Eventhough water fights will not be part of this year's festivities, others activities will take place. Here are some of the most beautiful one, not to be missed:
- 9-17th April : Bathing Ceremony of Buddha Images, making of Lanna Flags and sand piles in temples as well as at Thapae Gate and Three Kings Monuments.
- 12 & 13 April : Alms Giving Ceremony @ Three Kings Monument. From 6am to 8am.
- 12-14 April : Light & Sounds Event @ Lanna Museum-Three Kings Monument. From 6pm to midnight.
- 12 April : Workshop Making Tung (Lanna Flag) + Sand Pile Competition @ Thapae Gate, 2pm.
- 13th April : Invitation Rite for the Transportation of Phra Buddha Sihing @ Phra Sing Temple
- 13 April : Cycling Parade of the beautiful women of Chiang Mai @ Thapae Gate. From 9am to 11.30am
- 13 April : Miss & Mister Songkran Contest @ Thapae Gate. 7pm to 10pm.
- 14 April : Ceremony of Holy Tree and Sand Offerings @ both temples on Thapae Road. From 1.30 pm to 5pm
