7 SPA - Treatments to Discover

7 SPA

1. Thai Massage or Nuad Thai.

As previouslyexplained this energizing massage incorporates various techniques such as muscle compression, acupressure and stretching. While the therapist may use some linaments on particular sore spots, themassage is conducted primarily without the use of any oils or lotions.

People with shoulders and neck troubles (from spending a long time in front of a computer or sitting in car) often prefer to have a Head, Back and Shoulder massage which concentrates on
relaxation in the upper body.

2.Herbal Massage or Nuad Prakrob Samunprai.
This herbal treatment increases blood flow, improves circulation, relaxes muscles, stimulates nerves, energizes internal organs and soothes tension and soreness. A piece of unbleached cloth is filled with fragrant healing herbs such as lemongrass, turmeric and ginger, wrapped up and then warmed. Hot compresses are often use to complement a session of Nuad Boran.

3.Reflexology,
also call Thai Foot Massage is an ancient therapeutic procedure that has become popular today. Originally the knowledge and techniques were closely held secrets and passed down through generations by the Buddhist monks of the Thai royal palace. Thai foot reflexology combines techniques from Chinese Tuina, Japanese Shiatsu and Indian Ayurveda. Working with feet, lower legs and knees, this 2,000 year old, highly reputed session frees up blocked energy within the body’s many sen lines to produce a deep feeling of balance, relaxation and well-bein4.g.

4.Aromatherapy Massage.
It involves gentle manipu lations of the soft tissues with essential oils. The oils are 100% pure extracts from plants, trees or flowers, they are applied on your skin and diluted with vege-table oils to avoid irritation. Aromatherapy is a type of massage using oil, not to be confused with “oil massage”, using simple oil without essential extracts. Inhaling the appropriate fragrance can reduce stress, lift a depression, hasten a good night’s sleep, soothe your soul or give you more energy.

5.Body Scrubs
are popular body treatments aimed at exfoliating and hydrating the skin. An abrasive material like, for instance, salt, coffee or coconut mixed with oil or cream is rubbed on the whole body to exfoliate the skin. Once the job is done, the mixture is rinsed off under a long shower. Finally, a moisturizer is applied on the body.

Body scrubs help to slough off dead skin and the rubbing action itself boosts circulation and helps drain your lymph nodes by increasing blood flow to the skin surface. Plus after all that deep cleansing work in the shower, your post-wash moisturizer will be better able to soothe and hydrate your skin.

6.Body Wraps.
Body wraps today are more likely to involve a treatment which you are slathered with a body mask made of algae, seaweed, mud, clay or banana leaves. The product is rinsed off after a while. Body wraps are a good technique to hydrate your skin.

7.Hot Stone Massage.
This ancestral form of thermotherapy uses smooth stones, heated at around 50 degrees celsius, to prepare the body to a deep tissue massage. It usually starts like a traditional Swedish massage, then stones are rubbed over your oiled body. Some are placed on specific areas along your spine, in the palms of your hands or on your belly. As the stones cool down, the therapist replaces them with others.

Hot stone massage is effective in treating pain asso-ciated with fibromyalgia, arthitis and chronic musculoskeletal conditions as well as pain and tension re sulting from strained muscles. Hot stones also expand blood vessels which improves circulation and “energy flow” throughout the body.
