Witness the biggest Akha People Swing Festival this week end at Ban l’Ko Sam-Yaek, Doi Mae Salong Nai – Chiang Rai.
The festival, which begins on Saturday, featured hill tribe costumes, shows, and various activities about daily life and culture of Akha people.
Among the highlights is the Swing Ceremony, Performances, Dances along with Akha Products and cuisine. The Akha people usually stage this ritual to show their gratitude to the Goddess of Abundance and pray for good yields. The ceremony was also accompanied by celebrations and dancing.
The Akha Swing Festival is one of the most important annual events for the Akha people and Chiang Rai Province has the highest density of Akha people in Thailand.
The Akha people migrated from China to Thailand more than 100 years ago. This event is in Chiang Rai, other Akha villages will celebrated at different dates in different villages, but there is no fixed date yet.
