Astronomy lovers get ready, a new park has opened in Chiang Mai! Princess Sirindhorn ASTRO PARK opened its doors in February 2020, and it is a great place to visit. This park is complete with cutting edge technology and innovations based on astronomy and astrophysics, it is located on Cholpratharn road, Chiang Mai (about 2 kilometers from the 700 Years Stadium).
The park includes an astronomy research and services centre, an optics laboratory, an instrumentation development laboratory and a planetarium 17 metres in diameter. This complex also includes a museum, an observatory, a convention centre and an amphitheater. It is fun for both adults and children.
Every Friday, from 11am to 12am, join an interesting and up-to-date astronomy lecture in English, in their modern amphitheater (ticket about 100 THB). There is also a beautiful restaurant, called “Planet”, where you can enjoy coffee, tea and Thai dishes
while gazing in wonder at the stunning views over the eight hectares surrounding the place.
