One of the city’s celebrated restaurants, Rachamankha serves an authentic palette of flavors and spices in a chic atmosphere, yet at very affordable prices.
Rachamankha Restaurant is located in the beautiful hotel with the same name, tucked away in a little soi, at walking distance to Phra Singh temple. Escape from the bustle of the city and enter this sanctuary of soothing calm and subtle luxury.
Dine in the elegant air-conditioned dining room or choose al fresco in the shady courtyard. Rachamankha’s menu ranges from classic Thai dishes to more elaborate European creations with also some amazing local Chiang Mai specialities, always served in stylish blue-white ceramic houseware, with crystal glasses and silver cutlery.
Prices in the menu start from 180 Baht. Among them the most appetizing dishes listed on the European menu, we enjoyed: Beef Tongue Stew served with Red Wine Sauce (490 Baht); Grilled Royal Project Trout with Peach Sauce (280 Baht); Grilled Tiger Prawns with Sweet Peppers and Lemon Sauce (360 Baht). Thai and Lanna menus are as much tantalizing with: Braised Beef and Egg Noodles in a Rich Curried Broth (270 Baht); Roasted Duck in Red Curry (280 Baht); Young Tea Leaf Salad (220 Baht); and Deep Fried Shrimps Cakes (220 Baht). The restaurant also prides itself with a pretty innovative vegetarian menu.
Rachamankha’s distinctive architecture is inspired by the eleventh centuries B.C. vernacular Chinese dwellings, from which Northern Thai architecture has its roots. In the evening, don’t miss having a superb cocktail in the charming colonnaded courtyards and gardens (Happy Hour 5-6 pm).
