Royal Barge Procession

A Royal Barge Procession, presided over by His Majesty the King, will be held in Bangkok on October 24th. The event, which will involve up to 52 elaborately crafted river barges and 2,200
seamen, is part of year-long celebrations of King Vajiralongkorn’s coronation. The tradition of royal river processions dates back hundreds of years; the last procession took place in 2012.
King Vajiralongkorn’s river journey, on October 24th, will start at Tha Wasukri royal pier in Dusit district and end at Wat Arun Wanaram, aka the Temple of Dawn, on the western bank of the Chao Phraya River.

Three months of the Buddhist Lent or Khao Phansa comes to a finish on this full moon day. Called Awk Phansa, meaning the end of the Buddhist Lent, this event celebrates the moment when monks can now go out of temples and receive alms as usual. There will be ceremonies in all temples.
