On the eve of Visakha Bucha Day in Chiang Mai, a large candle night walk up to Doi Suthep temple is organized. It’s about 9 km (3 to 4 hours) and everyone is welcome. The next morning a great alm offering ceremony to monks takes place at the temple. Chiang Mai people usually walk up to the temple at night and wait for the morning ceremony.

Inthakin Festival

Inthakin is also known as Sai Khan Dok Ceremony: the worship of the city pillar. This is a tradition of flower offering to the city's pillar which is located at Chedi Luang temple. This important ceremony begins with a procession around the old city, a Buddha image called Phra Fon Saen Haa (the Five Hundred Thousand Raindrop Buddha) is carried, blessed with lustral water and placed in the courtyard of the temple. After that, devotees are allowed to venerate the Buddha and the City Pillar and to place flowers, candles and incense in each of the twenty-eight bowls laid out on mats in the temple. During this festival, the temple is lit up with hundreds of lights and Chiang Mai citizens come to pay respects until late at night.
The Royal Coronation Ceremony of His Majesty Rama X

The coronation of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn, Rama X, will be made of centuries old rituals dating as far back as the start of the Thai monarchy.
The official coronation will be a mix of Buddhist religious ceremonies and Hindu Brahmin rituals. The king will be crowned on May 4, followed the next day by a celebration procession. He will meet the public and foreign dignitaries on May 6. Monday May 6th, will be a national holiday.
