March 17th is the day when all people involved in Thai boxing (Muay Thai) celebrate Nai Khanom Tom, the hero of this sport. This day is not a public holiday, but there are commemorative events at various Muay Thai stadiums and training camps and it is a day with particular significance for the town of Ayutthaya, home to Nai Khanom Tom.

The Poy Sang Long Festival takes place each year in March-April, this year it will be celebrated from 2 to 5 April. It is actually more a ceremony than a festival and in Tai Yai language, it means “ordaining the beloved sons”. Young boys from 7 to 14 years old go to the temple to be ordained as novices. They will learn the tenets of Buddhist teaching and self-discipline.
Charity Concert

This charity concert will be organized in aid of AGAPE HOME, an orphanage in Chiang Mai. Admission is free and donations most welcome. Performing are Watthannee Saensong (vocal), Debbi Hosken (flute), Ohm Chanteyoon (violon), Judith Utely (harp) and Nawaop Phetthammaroa (piano).
