Great Neighborhood - Around Shangri-La Hotel Chiang Mai

Great Neighborhood

Chiang Mai’s Chang Klan road, the street where is located Shangri-La Hotel, is a nice neighborhood to stay, a busy street with lots of banks, cafes and little restaurants. Let’s see some of the highlights in this area and discover some places mostly known by locals and expats!

Right opposite the famous hotel is one of Chiang Mai’s most famous beef noodle restaurant: Rot Yam Beef Noodles. For about 100 THB you can enjoy a delicious dish of beef and noodles, dry or with hot broth. You can choose to add some chili powder, but the soup is usually so tasty that it does not need any addition.

Walking down Chang Klan Road and turning right at the intersection, you will pass by Magokoro Teahouse & Macha Cafe Chiang Mai, a very much Instagramable Japanese style café , specializing in macha teas and delicacies.

If you prefer French style pastries and cakes or you just want to enjoy a very Parisian style breakfast, stop by L’Opera French Bakery. Don’t miss their delicious strawberry tartelettes,: they are as delicious as they are colorful! (Price 35 THB/piece).

From there, Chai Mongkol temple is just a few minutes away. Quietly  located along Ping river, this temple is the place where you can release fishes, birds and contribute to free buffaloes. From there, you can go on a 2hours cruise with Mae Ping River Cruise and see Chiang Mai from a very different angle (price 500 THB/person).

Back from your cruise you might want to walk around the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar. After 2 years of pandemic, the  Night Bazaar, The Anusarn Market AND the Pavilion Night Bazaar are now slowly re-opening, offering visitors a place to shop for handicrafts, bags, watches and t-shirts as well as a chance to support locals businesses. Starting from 18.00 (every day except Sundays) street food specialities can also be enjoyed at Pavilion Night Bazaar, right next to Mac Donald.

Later at night, stop by for some great live jazz music at Moment's Notice Jazz Club. For a lovely night out, great vibes and delicious drinks, this is definitely the place to go at night.

After this great day walking around and tasting an array of amazing things, it’s time for a good night of sleep at the beautiful Shangri-La Hotel Chiang Mai. The hotel has also re-open it’s incredible Sea Food Sunday Brunch with free access to the pool.

Either on a vacation or back to Chiang Mai with the Test & Go Package, @Shangrilahotelchiangmai is a wonderful place to stay at and to discover it’s neighborhood !
