Do you have a little time to spare? Do you love animals? Then you might want to consider helping Elephant Nature Park Dog Sanctuary. Elephant Nature Park is well known in Chiang Mai
and around the world. Since 1990, the center has provided a quiet sanctuary for elephants to enjoy freedom. In 2011, during the catastrophic floods in Bangkok they rented boats and navigated the streets of Bangkok rescuing dogs trapped on rooftops and desperate for help. Many dogs were too afraid to board so were given fresh water, food and medical treatment to survive on their own. Of the 2,000 dogs pulled to safety, 155 were brought to Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai. Soon the famous elephant sanctuary was reorganized to welcome these new family members and large “dog runs” were built for dogs to play. A small animal hospital was constructed with a full time vet employed to care for the dogs.
Over the years many new dogs have joined the family, some of them suffering from malnutrition and, some of them rescued from the illegal dog meat trade in Laos and Vietnam. Currently Elephant Nature Park Dog Sanctuary is home to 400 dogs, plus many elephants, cats, horses and buffaloes. Caring for all these wonderful animals is a full-time job and they always need extra help! The project welcomes weekly volunteers to make a difference in the lives of these beautiful dogs.
Elephant Nature Park Dog Sanctuary also needs flight volunteers. Being a flight volunteer is very easy. Contact the association, give them your departure dates and they will arrange everything! Dogs at the park get adopted by people all around the world. Sometimes the new family has to travel back whilst the dog waits for vaccinations and procedures to be completed. That is why ENP Dog Sanctuary often needs Flight Partners to travel with the dogs to their new homes. Being a flight volunteer doesn’t involve any additional costs
for you and the assotiation organizes everything. They will meet you at Bangkok airport and help you check the dog. All you have to do is to collect the dog and go through customs at your destination airport where his new family will be waiting for you. Your reward will be witnessing a beautiful reunion between the dog and his new family. Is it your time to help?
