wning and running an independent hotel can be challenging. However, Khun Pao- Nutthawuth Suwanwong, manages two famous hotels in Chiang Mai and gives the best of quality accommodation and local experiences to his guests.
Where are you from and what are the names of your
properties?
“I am from Hat Yai in Southern Thailand. I came to Chiang Mai in 2007 and I am the managing director at De Lanna Hotel and Buri Siri Hotels.” Can you tell us more about your hotels? “De Lanna Hotel is located in the historical city center of Chiang Mai. It’s architecture is contemporary Lanna style. Buri Siri is a completely different property: it is colonial style architecture and sits in Nimmanhaemin area. Both properties are medium size hotels, and we set our definition to personal and unique.”
How did you decided to invest in Chiang Mai?
“Chiang Mai is the biggest city in northern Thailand and there is a very high potential of tourism. Plus, I have always liked the mountain scenery more than the sea. When I was studying, I lived in Oregon on the west coast of America for a few years. I really enjoyed being surrounded by mountains and nature so when I came back to Thailand, I looked for a similar atmosphere and I chose Chiang Mai.”
Should we expect more properties?
“Yes, We are building a new boutique hotel along Ping river. It will open at the end of 2019 and will be named Buri Sriping. It will be a new luxurious boutique hotel in Chiang Mai - only 36 rooms along Ping river, a spa, a restaurant, a beautiful view and five-star service. All at less than a 10 minutes drive to Night Bazaar.”
How did this project came to reality?
“I have always wanted to build a boutique house along Ping river. I started looking for the right piece of land after De Lanna Hotel, and the actual location of Buri Siri came up. So I opened Buri Siri and kept looking. It took me a few years to find it, but I think Buri Sriping Boutique Hotel will be an exquisite place.”

“Yes, we are having a special promotion at Buri Siri Hotel
from April to June (except during Songkran festival): room
rates are starting from 1,900 THB including breakfast.”
