Sueb Chata Muang

The Sueb Chata Muang ceremony is an ancestral Lanna event to honour the gardians spirits of Chiang Mai city. This year the event will be held on June 7th. According to tradition, the ceremony is held at 10 sacred sites believed to be haunted by the spirits. Every year, the city of Loei celebrates during three days an attractive local festival which celebrates local legends of demons and ghosts. This festival combines the spirit of joy with the feeling of fear of the unknow. The fear is presented by figures of demons and ghosts. There is a beautiful parade of men wearing masks, accompanied with music, dance, singing and shooting of
bamboo fireworks. Phi Ta Khon is a very colorful festival.
