Makha Bucha Day

1st March 2018 @ Nationwide 

Makha Bucha Day is an important Buddhist event which celebrates the day when 1,250 Sangha followers all came to meet Buddha without schedule and received enlightment.  
This day is a national holiday during which Buddhist people will make merit, keep the five precepts, including abstinence from alcoholic drinks and all kinds of immorals acts, and attend the evening candle light Procession around the Ordination Hall of the nearest temple.
 

National Elephant Day

In Thailand, March 13th is designated as national Elephant Day to highlight the importance of the Thai elephant in Thai history and culture. At Lampang Elephant Conservation Centre the big giants are treated to a huge feast of fruits and sugar cane. And all visitors are welcome to join this happy moment.

Thai Martial Arts Festival & Wai Kru Ceremony

March 17th is the day when all people involved in Thai boxing (Muay Thai) celebrate Nai Khanom Tom, the hero of this sport.  
This day isn’t a public holiday, but there are commemorative events at various Muay Thai stadiums and training camps and it is a day with particular significance for the town of Ayutthaya, home to Nai Khanom Tom.

Poy Sang Long Festival

April 3-6 2018 @ Chiang Mai & Mae Hong Son

Poy Sang Long is a Buddhist novice ordination ceremony of the Shan people or Tai Yai, an ethnic group in Shan state in Burma and Northern Thailand.   In Chiang Mai, you can witness this beautiful event at Ku Tao temple, in Sirphoom area, close to the moat. This temple was build in 1613 and caters Chiang Mai’s Shan community.

Thailand International Balloon Festival 2018

2-4 March, 2018 @ Cowboy Army Riding Club, Chiang Mai.

The Thailand International Balloon Festival 2018 returns in its 10th year and will be held from 2 to 4 March at the Cowboy Army Riding Club in Chiang Mai.  
Visitors can expect to enjoy a spectacular sight of colourful hot air balloons gracefully drift through the air, and the festival's signature balloons bight glow that will decorate the sky at night. During day time workshops, product exhibitions, shows and meetings with ballon owners will be organized. At night fall, Chiang Mai's best restaurants will be there and let you have a great diner with friends in the perfect surroundings.
