Thai Massage, known locally as Nuad Pen Boran, is an ancient art in which wisdom has been passed down through generations of practitioners and healers. ITM-International Training Massage School offers extensive training in massage techniques, both theoretical and practical. Their curricula are accredited by the Thai Ministry of Education.
The courses are constructed to help students fully integrate the material by providing time for practice between the lessons. Each session is a complete package including discussion, observation, practice and experiencing the work for yourself while someone practices with you.
ITM School holds various courses, including teacher training, all of which are taught in English and start on Mondays. Their style focuses on flowing movements, sensitivity and tailor made techniques to suit individual needs. As everybody is different, the school encourages students to adjust their techniques to suit individuals and their body conditions.
ITM mainly focuses on professional teachings but if you are in Chiang Mai for only a short period and would like to take some massage skills, you can try their special One Day Course. This class runs from 9am until 3pm and teaches the basics of back, shoulder, neck, head, face and foot massages; plus it includes a Thai Yoga/Qi Gong exercise and a coffee break. The price for One-Day Massage Course is 1,800 Baht.
